Best Coffee Shops in Rhode Island

Coffee is arguably one of the greatest drinks on earth. Personally, I need it every twenty-four hours or else I get a headache. Then again, I started drinking it at the age of four.
Whenever I travel, I try to visit as many coffee shops as I can, rating them based on four factors:
Aesthetics - Is the shop cute? Clean?
Servers - Are the workers nice? Timely?
Food - Do they have good food? Fresh?
And of course, coffee- is it good coffee? Do they have tiny ice cubes (a very important ingredient)?
So with this, I give you Rhody’s best coffee shops based on aesthetics, servers, food, and coffee!
Fuel Coffee Bar - Narragansett
Located on 904 Boston Neck Road in Narragansett, Fuel has some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted and definitely the best in Rhode Island. Different from most coffee shops, when you order an iced coffee, they have a wall of different brewed coffees. You fill your cup with small ice cubes from their ice machine, pour your favorite flavor of coffee, and fix it the way you want! Now, I always get iced coffee but as for their hot coffee - my mom LOVES them!
As for their food, it is always fresh and perfectly made. My recommendation - their croissants, cut in half, and toasted…the best. Buttery, flaky, warm, and filling. They have gluten-free options AND vegan options, very inclusive.
Fuel’s employees have got to be some of the nicest people I have ever met. They always have a smile on their face even when it’s busy, keeping up a good attitude is an essential factor in customer service!
Aesthetic-wise, one of the prettiest coffee shops. Granted, most shops in Gansett are pretty cute, but this is the best. Their menus are shown on surfboards hung on the wall, cute decorations scattered around, beautiful color combinations, and the perfect lighting.
BONUS! Fuel has very cute merchandise. I personally own a crewneck and have their hoodie on my wish list!
Seven Stars Bakery - Pawtucket
Hope Street in Pawtucket has a lot to offer, with Seven Stars being at the top of the list. While it is ALWAYS busy, it has great coffee.
They don’t have the largest selection of coffee flavors, but the ones that they do have are exceptional. In my opinion, the caramel coffee is just - chef’s kiss. They also have the perk of allowing you to put in your cream and sugar the way you like it.
Like most of the friendly workers on Hope Street, you can find that the workers not only do a great job but are cheerful while doing so! It is always nice to have a good experience with workers, it makes all the difference!
Seven Stars has a lot to offer for food, I usually just stick to my croissants. Similar to Fuel, they have good, flaky, and buttery croissants. The chocolate ones are the best!
With plenty of windows creating natural lighting and beautiful woodwork, Seven Stars is a pretty aesthetic shop! Could use some organization here and there but other than that, it is pretty tidy.
Coffee Connection - Woonsocket, Cumberland, Smithfield
After trying the three Coffee Connection locations of Woonsocket (Bernon St.), Cumberland (Mendon Rd), and Smithfield (Douglas Pike), I have determined that they all excel in three of four categories, respectively.
For coffee, Woonsocket Coffee Connection takes the lead. I have found that both of the other locations overdo the sugar and cream. It is almost headache-inducingly sweet. Woonsocket gets it perfect every time.
For food, Cumberland is on top. From their acai bowls to classic bacon egg and cheese, they know what’s up. I love a good bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. They double up the egg every time without anyone even asking.
For aesthetics, Smithfield wins by far. Always very clean, it is the perfect aesthetic for a study session and a VSCO post.
Altogether, the workers are pretty average. The Cumberland location has a lot of attitude, if you hate your job - quit! Woonsocket location workers are really nice but don’t go there if you are in a rush. As for the Smithfield one, someone you know probably works there…

I could go on and on but I don’t think I would be able to stop. Rhode Island is full of great coffee shops, you just have to find them! As someone who is very serious about this, I would never recommend a place with bad coffee. If you are reading this and plan to go to one of these places, let me know what you think!
