As AI continues to advance, it raises both opportunities for innovation and challenges related to ethics, employment, and privacy.
ChatGPT is a virtual artificial intelligence assistance released on November 30th, 2022. It’s extremely simple to use; type a question or prompt into the box and it will spit out an answer. That was what you just read. I asked ChatGPT to write two sentences on the evolution of AI in human society and that’s what it gave me. Honestly, it’s pretty amazing.
Although the idea of a type of program like this existing is incredible, there are some things that make overuse of AI a bad idea. With this technology, we have no need to think for ourselves anymore. With Google, all the information known to mankind is available to us at our fingertips, but with AI, that technology will soon know more than us. We truly have no need to think, because technology can do it for us. According to the Kids’ Care Club, technology is leading to less need for children to use and develop their imagination. Without that creativity, how will new things be invented? New medicines? AI will have to do it, because there will be no creativity from the future generations if we continue on this path. What happens to muscles when they aren’t used? They break down. Our brains are muscles, and not using them is making them break down.
I’m not saying AI is a bad thing, because it isn’t. It’s a wonderful tool that will hopefully help the minds of future generations. The overuse of AI makes it dangerous. This technology was created to assist humans, not override. Somehow, we need to find a healthy balance and use AI for the purpose it was created for, to help human society, not to harm it.
